Google's music AI got an upgrade. It's Lyria 3 Pro, the last one was Lyria 3 back in February, and according to Google, this one actually understands structure: intros, verses, choruses, bridges. It stretches to three-minute tracks, long enough for a "real" pop song.

Google is carpeting every surface with this.
Reality check:
SynthID: Every output gets Google's imperceptible watermark. The pitch is traceability and transparency. The reality is researchers have already shown that basic audio processing, re-encoding, pitch shifting, adding noise, degrades these watermarks while leaving the audio intact.
The Grammy partnerships are legitimization theater. Yung Spielburg validates the tool, but the real targets are small creators who can't afford $500 stock music licenses. "Democratizing creation" is the pitch. The play is simpler: every track generated becomes training data for version four, and every creator using Google's stack is one not using Suno or ElevenLabs. Own the generation layer today, then i don't know, monetize the dependency tomorrow.
Why it matters:
It's Google attempt at owning the audio pipeline end-to-end. Training data (YouTube). The model (Lyria). Distribution (YouTube Music). Creation tools (Vids, ProducerAI). Enterprise infrastructure (Vertex). Every prompt teaches them what sounds work, every upload feeds the next model, and every creator locked into their stack is a customer competitors can't touch.
